General Questions Decelera Program

A Decelerator is a unique program designed for entrepreneurs to pause, reflect, and refine their business ideas while focusing on sustainable growth.

The 2025 program will take place from the 3rd of October through the 10th of October.

No, there is no fee or equity exchange required to attend. However, participation includes granting an investment right to Decelera, which allows the opportunity for potential future investment.

20 companies per program.

Decelera covers the program for 2 co-founders, who share 1 hotel room.

The agenda is very dynamic, and we move around the region every other day in beautiful locations such as: Cenotes, Beaches, etc. Decelera’s campus and our patio are located in Akumal, Mexico.

Participation requires agreeing to the investment rights; therefore, attendance without interest in investment is not possible.

Not all participants are funded. Decelera invests in startups that align with our values and where mutual benefits exist.

Our standard initial ticket ranges from $150,000 to $300,000.

Yes, follow-on investments are up to $2 million.

We are sector-agnostic but prioritize startups using technology to positively impact the planet.

From pre-seed to pre-Series A.

Companies preferably constituted by Hispanic founders operating in Americas.
Selection Process

If you don’t have the minimum requirements to be selected, you won’t be able to advance in the process.

The application process for Decelera Mexico 2025 is open from:
Waiting list: Until June 30th
Open call: July 1st to July 31st
Keep in mind that the selection process involves multiple steps and extends beyond the application period. Applying early increases your chances of being considered, as applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The application period for Decelera Mexico 2025 runs from July 1st, 2025, to September 15th, 2025.
Evaluation follows the first come, first served basis. Meaning there's higher chances of being accepted in the first batch.

After you submit your application, there are only two more steps if you end up being shortlisted:
Video Call: You’ll participate in a video call with our investment team. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your readiness and alignment with Decelera’s mission.
Final Approval: Selected startups undergo a final review by Decelera’s advisory committee. Approved startups complete the contract signing and move to logistics planning, including booking flights.

By September 15th participating companies are notified, else are notified of being kept on the waiting list.

If you’ve not received an email from us, please check your spam folder. If you haven’t gotten any responses, chances are you didn’t move forward to the next phase.

Less than 10 minutes

Phase 1 questionnaire takes around 10 minutes. Phase 2 questionnaire takes around 20 minutes.

Yes.

We assess various documents, including cap tables, bylaws, fiscal information, IP, GDPR compliance, and liabilities. A detailed checklist will be provided.

After you sign your participation contract, we’ll provide a media kit to help you announce your participation.
Contracts
-
The purpose and scope of the contract are:
Regulate the terms for the startup's participation in Decelera’s program.
Grant Decelera Ventures the right (but not the obligation) to provide a CLA investment.

We align to the terms set by your lead investor. Our CLA has standard clauses, including a discount, cap and general rights offered in pre-seed and seed rounds.

No, the CLA is only signed after the investment is approved by Decelera’s Investment Committee, after the program ends.
During the program
-
Each startup gets an apartment with a bedroom (separate beds) and a living room with a sofa bed. Separate rooms are available at an additional cost.

Morning: Talks (9 AM – 1 PM)
Afternoon: Workshops or activities (3 PM – 6 PM)
Evening: Networking and events (6 PM – 9 PM)
Night: Special dinners and free time

While the schedule is busy, there’s daily free time between 12–13 and 18–20. These moments often lead to valuable informal networking.

If selected, you’ll need to bring:
Swimsuit, flip-flops, and a towel (we’ll provide a t-shirt and sunscreen).
1–2 cocktail outfits.
Trainers and athletic wear.
Sweaters/jumpers for cooler evenings.

Yes, all meals are provided on campus. Alcoholic beverages are not included.

Yes, we’ll meet you at the airport and manage logistics. Please share your flight details in advance.
What happens after the program?

You join our Decelera Community with access to exclusive networking opportunities. If selected for investment, your startup undergoes further due diligence to join our portfolio.
